Daniel, you’ve accidentally linked Brandon Wason to Higgion’s blog.
September 12th, 2009 at 8:48 pm
Thanks for the catch. It’s been remedied.
September 12th, 2009 at 8:49 pm
thanks for consolidating this. very helpful.
September 12th, 2009 at 8:54 pm
I’m glad to hear you find it helpful. If anyone comes across posts I’ve missed I’m happy to add them.
September 12th, 2009 at 8:57 pm
It would not seem so odd, really, if you knew some of the personalities involved better.
Thanks for this, but you left out posts on the topic on my blog and that of Mark Goodacre.

FYI, the man behind “The Church of Jesus Christ” is Joel Watts.
September 13th, 2009 at 9:55 am
I would hope that the ‘man’ behind the TCOJC would be the Mediator Himself, but…
Well done, Daniel. I find this collections very helpful.
September 12th, 2009 at 9:25 pm
Awesome. Thanks John. I recalled reading your comments earlier, but I somehow missed it today. Thanks for the heads up.
September 12th, 2009 at 10:27 pm
Thanks for gathering these together. I am going to use this post as a guide. I’ve just blogged another chapter myself. Cheers, Mark
September 12th, 2009 at 10:38 pm
Thanks for the heads up and the excellent post, Mark.
September 13th, 2009 at 12:20 am
Thanks for this, Daniel. If you had the time, I wouldn’t mind seeing some loose categories, like positive, negative, ambivalent…

I’m not opposed. I’m non-aligned.

Daniel, I might have missed it on your list….
September 13th, 2009 at 7:46 pm
it frankly doesnt matter who’s for it or who’s against it. it is. they can either take part or abstain. being ‘against it’ is akin to now being ‘against’ obama as president. he is whether you like it or not.
but, that said, dan, you’ve done a good job categorizing. wonder why those opposed to the systematization and categorization of biblioblogging haven’t yet whined.
but maybe they’re just trying to figure out what to say.
September 13th, 2009 at 7:52 pm
Thanks Joel. It’s been added. The post started just with the blogs in my Google Reader, so I knew there would be a few missed. I appreciate the updates.
September 13th, 2009 at 8:24 pm
Thanks Jim. Maybe “opposed” is the wrong word, though. Maybe “not interested” or something like that would be more accurate.
September 13th, 2009 at 9:57 pm
Well, I think “positive reaction” and “negative reaction” might be more accurate, though admittedly lacking in flare.
Thanks for taking me up on my suggestion, by the way! It does help quite a bit.
September 13th, 2009 at 10:25 pm
Well, Pat, flare is the most important thing. Let’s try the current categories.
September 14th, 2009 at 12:45 pm
Not bad. I’m not sure I’d call myself “enthusiastic” about the affiliation. But I do think it’s a positive thing.
September 14th, 2009 at 12:49 pm
You’re just never going to be happy, are you Pat?
September 14th, 2009 at 7:26 am
Daniel, my own entry can be found here. I’d probably categorize it on the positive side. Great job on keeping up the conversation!
September 14th, 2009 at 9:08 am
Thanks Tim. Taken care of.
September 14th, 2009 at 2:52 pm
Hey Dan,
Ah, the fine art of pigeonholing people and their positions. BTW, when you start publishing in the field (or maybe you have already), what most people will pay attention to is your characterization of positions they think they know well – their own positions or those of others. A very good exercise.
September 14th, 2009 at 2:55 pm
Daniel I’ve post my positive reaction to the SBL – Bibliobloggers affiliation here:
http://kevinscull.wordpress.com/2009/09/14/sbl-and-biblioblogs-a-positive-development/.
Feel free to add me to your list.
September 14th, 2009 at 3:08 pm
Thanks for the heads up, Kevin. It’s been added.
September 14th, 2009 at 2:58 pm
Yeah, I realized after I posted the categories that everyone’s positions were far more nuanced than a simple “in favor” or “opposed,” and that I would get called on that. I take a little more time with it in my scholarship, but this is an interesting illustration of the dynamic.
I get to follow Emanuel Tov in New Orleans and some of my conclusions are aimed directly at things he’s done in the past. That should be another good exercise.

dan you still have that cute baby picture up… who could ever argue with you with that baby staring at them. i cant manage it.
and you’re right. pat’s never happy.
so i think at the dinner in NO i will go ahead and assign seats. that way i wont have to sit next to eeyore.
September 16th, 2009 at 2:32 pm
Jim, I had assumed that you would not be sitting by anyone – as I believed that the throne has room for only one?
September 16th, 2009 at 2:40 pm
Did this make anyone else think of this:
September 16th, 2009 at 2:35 pm
I should have gotten in on the SBL dinner earlier. It looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun. Are you going to assign seats and ordering priority according to Alexa ranking?
I think I’ve arrived at a place with the categorizations that no one can complain about, but my daughter will remain another line of defense just in case.
September 16th, 2009 at 2:42 pm
Indeed, Daniel, I am often times been mistaken for Sean Connery.
September 16th, 2009 at 2:48 pm
A Scottish guy playing a British spy, and then a Spaniard, and then later an Irish cop, and then later a Russian (with the same accent throughout)?

Oui
September 16th, 2009 at 6:21 pm

September 16th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
Yes, I can see that too.
September 16th, 2009 at 6:47 pm
Now I’ve never met you Jim, but based solely on your avatar, I would say you most closely resemble the Roman authority in this video:
