Story here. Archaeologists uncovered a Christian church in Israel dating to the fifth through seventh centuries CE in Hirbet Masdras, Israel. The church was apparently built on top of an older structure which the archaeologists date to the Roman Period. It’s also on top of underground tunnels used during the Bar Kokhba revolt in the early second century CE. They’re recovering the church with soil until they can get funding to open it as a tourist attraction.
